English Didactics Week VI

Imagen
Week number VI is midterms week.  Not a fun week for most of the students, but we cannot get rid of it. In this week we reviewed a little about all the teaching methods we have studied until the day and in order to carry on this, the class was separated in groups to create presentations with each method. The method I and my classmates presented was the Direct Method, at the end of this presentation there was an activity for the whole class.  Unfortunately I do not have much pictures about this and the only ones that exist are some in which I do not appear, but I am 100% sure that I was there.

Hello there! Every week we learn new things, and this one was not an exception. On this week we learned about the Total Physical Response method (TPR) a very interesting method to apply with those students that are really energetic, since they would have to move as they learn a second language, however, this method can get to be a little stressing for students that are shy, also it is limited because not everything can be explained with it. It was created by James Asher. In order to practice a little using this method, we gathered in groups and were trying to remember some trendy dances from back then in the pandemic, it was really funny. Miguel had some moves haha.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later on this same week, we checked "(De)Suggestopedia". This is a method in which the students learn quickly by feeling relaxed, interested and positive. To practice this one we were listening to ...

Hello, welcome to my blog again!  In this week, the first class was really entertaining, we were all in a circle and we were practicing with the repetition drill, we were supposed to say the fruits of our classmates who had participated before us, and I was almost one of the last ones so I had to pay attention in order to not fail, however, I failed. It was a really fun activity, we practiced and laughed a little.  The next activity in this same class was a question-and-answer, using common phrases such as "Hello (NAME), how are you?" and the answer was "Fine, thank you", later on we were in another activity in which we were turning positive sentences into negative sentences, in this one we were supposed to remember the answer of everyone before us, in this one I was successful.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next class was really interesting, we learned about anoth...

Hi there!  In this week we reviewed some new interesting topics and at the same time we gathered  more information on the direct method teaching, since this method is looking to help the student to get communicated it really helps them to improve mainly the speaking and listening part, Germany and France are the origin countries of the direct method, this one discovered by a man named Maximilian Berlitz.  The Direct Method is really good to learn or/and teach a language because it is really focused on the student practicing orally, translation and grammar rules are really important to know, however, while using this method these two are left behind. There are two types of ways to teach with the direct method:   - English for Specific Purposes (ESP) mostly used for technical terms   - English for General Purposes (EGP) mostly used to improve all skills Hey, but that's not the only topic on this week, we also learned about another interesting meth...

Week 2  In this week I was not in college, I had the opportunity to participate as an interpreter volunteer at  ASAPROSAR in a visual campaign, this place is in Santa Ana. Some of my peers and I went to this place and we had to stay there.  This experience was wonderful. I helped with interpretations in visual exams, appointments and the greatest opportunity I had was being able to go into the operating room and see some of the surgeries. I learned a lot of new vocabulary, things that would have never crossed my mind, words that I did not even know that existed.  Getting to help people is one of the most gratificant things in life. Some people even cried when they realized they could get to see again. That was awesome!  Friends and some new ones...    English didactics blog!  Welcome to this blog!  My name is David Cristales, I am a 21 years old guy and a translation and interpretation student  (this is my last year!) . Here you will find some reviews about what am I going to learn throughout this whole year 2025. I really enjoy talking a lot and sharing random facts sometimes, so at least for me this is a fun activity. I love playing videogames, I am trying to start with the habit of reading, sometimes I would play the guitar for a couple of hours, but then forget that I have one for months, it is what it is...
