English Didactics Week IV

Hello, welcome to my blog again!

In this week, the first class was really entertaining, we were all in a circle and we were practicing with the repetition drill, we were supposed to say the fruits of our classmates who had participated before us, and I was almost one of the last ones so I had to pay attention in order to not fail, however, I failed. It was a really fun activity, we practiced and laughed a little.

The next activity in this same class was a question-and-answer, using common phrases such as "Hello (NAME), how are you?" and the answer was "Fine, thank you", later on we were in another activity in which we were turning positive sentences into negative sentences, in this one we were supposed to remember the answer of everyone before us, in this one I was successful.

The next class was really interesting, we learned about another teaching method, its called "The Silent Way Method", I like to talk a lot, so I am not happy with this man who created it, his name is Caleb Gattegno an Egyptian mathematician and educator. The Silent Way method basically is letting the students discover a way to achieve what they want, this also with the use of some tools in order to make learning way easier, the teacher is there as a guide with this method, providing help just when necessary.

The tools that Caleb provided for this method were the "Cuisenaire rods", the main use of these rods was for math, however, it is also used to improve when learning a language, the way in which we applied it was by creating a story with the rods, each rod was a word. This method is really nice.
